NORTHEAST COLORADO RC&D PLANNING SESSION

The Northeast Colorado Resource Conservation and Development Council (RC&D) is an organization sponsored by the United States Department of Agriculture that works under the guidance of a citizen council made up of individuals from 5 counties in northeast Colorado. The Board of Directors are Nellie Zion and Vince Shively from Yuma County, Steve Nein from Sedgwick County, Jay Wisdom and Steve Vogel from Logan County, Leo Mailander from Phillips County, and Ron Kuntz from Morgan County The council's mission is to provide and coordinate leadership and partnerships to promote the conservation and sustainable use of our natural and human resources, fostering entrepreneurial ship and economic development in Northeast Colorado.

The RC&D program is a unique combination of private enterprise and Federal Assistance that encourages the blending of natural resources use with local economic and social values. Program objectives address improving the quality of life, including social, economic and environmental concerns; continuing prudent use of natural resources; strengthening local citizens' ability to utilize available sources of assistance through Federal and state agencies, and other public and private entities. This is accomplished through gathering input from local individuals throughout the RC&D area and using this input to develop a long range plan to assist the region in their efforts.

In order to accomplish this task the Northeast Colorado RC&D Council will be holding their monthly meeting in the different counties within your area. The RC&D Council is inviting the public to attend so that we can learn first-hand from local citizens what the most important issues are in their community and what the potential opportunities are for the RC&D Council to support community efforts in addressing these. The council will then ask for input from the attendees on what they see as needs and have as resources for their community. This information will be combined with information from other counties and used to develop goals, objectives and strategies to help meet the needs of the region.
